Started in 1946 as a plastic injection moulding company, Plasmoulds Ltd changed it's manufacturing direction in 1950 when the founding directors identified that plastic was not always a preferred material, in fact there was a heavy demand for plastic injection mouldings made from aluminium and it was at this time that the company chose to develop what has now become an industry standard, precision sand castings.
Over a number of years we have developed the technique which was unique in the manufacture of non-ferrous sand castings, particularly in the field of high precision light alloy sand castings with a superfine finish, which in many cases will eliminate expensive machining operations, whilst at the same time reducing tooling costs to a fraction of conventional die-casting tool costs.
This timely innovation enabled the company to take advantage of a post war boom, especially in the defence trades where until the early 80's the company held numerous military and civil approvals. Although the market place has changed dramatically since the 80's the company has improved its market share and has continued to grow to where it is today, occupying 50,000sq ft of privately owned production space, supplying castings to the more recent quality approval schemes of ISO 9001:2000.
Perhaps one of the company's proudest boasts, and strongest asset, is that it offers customers a relationship that is possibly unique in that working alongside the present directors is the fourth generation management team led by three great grandsons of the original chairman, all of which are experienced designers and engineers themselves. This guaranteeing our customers a stable supplier enthusiastically adopting all the latest technology and maintaining our good track record for innovation, manufacture and reliability for the foreseeable future.
